"Sexton is an accomplished and experienced actress who commands the stage as Clarke. Remarkably this is her playwriting debut. It is fully rounded, powerful and timely. Hopefully, this marks the beginning of a second career for Sexton as a writer."

The inaugural London Irish Short Play Festival took place in the London Irish Centre Camden last week. The ambitious project saw the company put a call out for submissions from writers of a London/ Irish heritage, last summer. After receiving a huge response and over 50 scripts, artistic directors Sharon Sexton and Cillian O'Donnachadha set about making the difficult decision and whittling the selection down to just 6 brand new pieces of writing. The company assembled a company of actors, workshopped, rehearsed and presented 6 plays a night, over 4 evenigs to crammed houses at the London Irish Centre. The entire run was sold out before the first curtain went up, proving that there is an appetite in both the artistic and social London Irish Community for a platform like this. Sharon and Cillian are delighted with how well it was received and are hopeful that they can work with the London Irish Centre to make this an annual event.
